The tropical climate of Alice River near Townsville allows for year-round outdoor entertaining. The owners of this private residence discovered they needed an effective solution to minimise the problem of bugs that plagued their evening alfresco events, and reduce the risk of mosquito borne diseases.
Crimsafe Ultimate Bi-Fold security screens were chosen to keep the insects out, while improving the airflow from indoors to outdoors. The end result was an impressive looking security screen that provided unimpeded views, security and protection from insects.
Design Challenges
The property was designed with an opening measuring 12 meters long and 3 meters high that led out to the alfresco area barbeque and pool enclosure. A glass pool fence and a pillar positioned at a 45 degree angle added to the challenge of the over-sized opening.
A Crimsafe Ultimate Bi-Fold Door consisting of 10 panels opening from the centre and creating a set of double doors in the middle is an innovative, unique and functional solution to the ultra-large opening to the poolside.
To overcome the proximity of the glass pool fence during the installation, some of the glass panels of the pool fence were removed and an aluminium support frame was made to adapt the bi-fold jamb profile to the problematic 45° pillar.
